I live in south Georgia and the weather is still bad here. More rain and wind predicted for today. I need to go clean up the yard from yesterday but that would not really be smart since there will be more today. I am ready for this storm front to more on out! So I will stay in today and finish grading papers and prepare for next week. Hope most of you have more fun today!

Hey Girl, you are doing so fast walking.  I walk two miles on the treadmil and do it under an hour but I've been doing it all summer, in an climate controlled room, and it is never on incline. LOL.  Today, I'm getting ready to teach.  I love teaching but hate prep.  Classes start Monday.  Yeah!  Did anyone get hurt in your wreck?

Hi Jan and all,

I have been up since about 4:30 am so I get to say it! I'm "Sleepless in Seattle." ! Ha ha...
Yep, Tom is in bed behind me snoring away. I am sitting at the desk talking to all of you.
Jan, I have been doing my treadmill and using weights, I have muscles but still have LOTS of hanging skin....don't think mine is toning much. Had blood drawn the other day and I bout went to the moon with pain. She hit a nerve, she was so nice and I know she wasn't at fault as there was no bruise. She showed me how my veins just move all around and how there is a nerve running close by...not much muscle tone there  she said...the test is for some muscle disease they think may be related to the eye problems I have been having...wonder if that would be why the muscle tone issue in my arm. Hmmmmm....anyway I digress...Jan, you sound like you are doing great with the walking!

We met up with my son after we went to the Asian Art Museum, the Seattle Art Museum and Pikes Place Market. Met up with my son, Collin. Had dinner at a Thai place then went to The Dark Knight. My son opened his apt door and didn't recognize me. Hadn't seen me since Christmas. At dinner, he just kept saying how "skinny" I was and how I didn't look like me. He has never seen me at this weight, he was a babe when I was last this weight. He struggles with his weight and will be 30 this week. He said he might consider this surgery.  I don't think he is but maybe 30 or 40 lbs over weight soooo...I don't know...he may have been just kidding.  I know I just feel so bad...as I know he has the same issues with food as me and I was such a "great" role model. NOT!
Anyway, the weather was gorgeous and we walked about 6 miles. Tom wears a pedometer every day. So, I hope I come home same weight or less..doing well on my food too...
Today is a Sci-Fi museum and drag show tonight. Capital Hill is a very interesting place. Hope to do some people watching today...

Have a great Saturday!
Cheryl

Cheryl,
Next time tell your phlebotomist that your veins "roll". She should hold the skin slightly taut with her thumb of one hand while inserting the needle with the other...less chance of missing.

Everyone have a great day!!

Good Morning Jan & OFF Family,

Glad to hear you are ok and the walking is a good thing, someone suggested wearing a backpack with some books in it to help lose more weight, it tricks your body into thinking you weigh more. . .  just passing along something I heard at my support group meeting.

As for me, well I need to clean this house and then I will go and hang out with my son, his wife and the kids at his in-laws, maybe we'll take the kids to the park, as it is such a beautiful day out!

The weather here recently has been fall/spring like and I'm just loving it!  I've had a very busy and full summer and as it winds down, I feel a bit of sadness and yet I am also relieved as I need to rest and turn my thoughts to trying to put together a NYC or Philadelphia get together for next Fall.

Well I think I've spent enough time on the computer, time to clean. . .

Hugs, prayers and positive thoughts to all, Laureen

Not much planned for today.  It is after 9 and I am still in my jammies.  Finally a weekend with no company and nothing really planned.

I have to take muffins or quick bread to church tomorrow........not sure if I am going to bake or just pick up something premade..............I am  afraid if I bake I will be tempted to lick the beaters and the bowl.........so I am going to justify the expense of buying premade.   I won't be heating up the house it will save on the air conditioning bill.

We always go out for lunch on Sat. to a little coffee shop. It is an old cafe that was build over a hundred years ago.  They still have the original booths and counter in there.  They have the best soups and sandwiches.  I don't eat the sandwiches anymore they do make the best chicken salad,I stil and watch my DH eat that.  I have their cheese soup and end up bringing most of it home.  I only order a cup of soup, but they usuaally bring me a bowl and say we have a lot left over and then they bring me a big cup to pour it in to take home.  Then I get a sugar free/fat free latte.

I wish I could do the walking I was doing short walks and then a couple weekends ago , I was taking some steps back while taking family pics at a reunion and stepped off a curb and my legs kind of did the splits on gravel.  I had total hip replacments  on both hips in the last 2 years and one of my hips started hurting at times................very painful the pain would come and go but it scared the you know what out of me, so I went to the surgeon and he told me to not do any weight bearing exercises for awhile.   I was so relieved that I didn't do any damage that would require more surgery I was realy worried about that.  So guess it will be back to the pool for me.  I will go to the YMCA today and get a schedule of water classes for arthritis people.

I woke up several times during the night with acid reflux or at least that's what I think it is.  It started on July 4th and I thought it was from potata salad that I had one bite of...........
Now my husband told me it could be because I keep a bigggg glass of crystal light by the bed and drink it everything time I wake up, he said I shouldn't be laying down when I drink.  I coughed really hard and red flecks were in the kleenex now I am wondering if it was mayble a little blood or if the cyrstal light came up.   I think I will call my surgeon Monday and ask his opinion.  He told me at my last fill the band slipped just a little.

My arms have bat wings.  I am thinking of getting a part time job and saving that money so I can have plastic surgery on my arms in a couple of years.  I can't beleive all the loose skin I have there and to think that just year ago it was all filled with fat.

Reading this over, makes it sound like I am a whiner............I am not really............I do feel really good otherwise and really pumped up on what I can do.   I am going to go shopping for a lateral file today.  I am into genealogy and have files of stuff in totes and cardboard boxes.  If I can find a 4 door lateral file cabinet I can get all my stuff organized.   A few months ago I didn't have the energy to think about reorganizing my files or even to go shopping so I am feeling lots better then I did a few months ago.

Have a great day everyone.
